Tekendra Shah is a popular traditional cultural singer who was born to a middle class family with agricultural background from Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. He spent his early childhood with two siblings at Ramaroshan in Achham district. During the agricultural plantation the neighbors and elderly ones used to sing typical traditional songs, which always roomed over his mind and heart. The simple lifestyle and typical local language always fascinated him towards preservation of language and culture of society he belonged to. The songs that used to be hummed by the people of his place were named as a Deuda Song.  During the school function program he used to take active part in various musical events.

His interest in music and singing always drove him to flourish as a singer.  He worked really very hard to promote and preserve the Deuda song which was less prioritized by the head authorities.  Being more responsible, he started his career as a Radio Jockey at Phoolbari FM, Tikapur in 2005 with a folk musical concert based on Deuda songs which were popular among the audience, where he used to interact and create platforms to sing typical Deuda songs with the audience.

Tekendra Shah aimed to pursue his higher education and came to Kathmandu, the land of opportunities, for his dream to come true in 2006.  He completed Bachelor’s degree from   Mahendra Ratna Campus, Tahachal. And he also joined music class from popular singer/ composer Binay K2 to learn singing.  His love for music dragged him to record songs where he released two albums named “Chhaina Sahara” in 2008 and “Chaitali Melaima” in 2009 and recognized himself as a singer.   As a singer Tekendra Shah has released dozens of songs and music videos which have been released in the leading National Television, Radio Stations of Nepal and various online news portals and YouTube Channels which made him a prolific and popular singer.

“HajurKai Paran Pyari Bani”(2020), “ Lau Gori” (2018), “Timrai Jhalko” (2020), “ Najasuwa Fanki” (2022), “ Chhaina Sahara”(2008), “ Hanpaitali Jhyamma”(2022) are some of his popular numbers to his credit.  Being responsible to the society he started to sing cultural and traditional Deuda songs like “Najasuwa Fanki”, “ Chhaina Sahara” , “ Hanpaitali Jhyamma”, “ Chaitali Melaima”, “Kholi Gogan”, “Kausiya” and many more .

His lifelong passion for art and music eventually made him a renowned music video editor and director in the Nepali music industry. He has created more than 5,000 music videos, dozens of documentaries, and short films.  He is also associated with various leading production houses and music companies of Nepal as a Visual Editor like Vision Nepal Pvt. Ltd , Music Joy Media, Sylph Entertainment, Bikalpa Creation, Asian Music, Music Nepal, Sai Vision, 8K Everest Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd, popular talk show – VFY Talks and DMM Talks. He also worked for a leading satellite television News24 from 2012 to 2013 as a senior visual editor.

Shah has been awarded the prestigious and highly recognized proclaimed awards such as Best Music Video Editor in the 18th Image Award (2016), Best Music Video Editor in the 1st Young Minds Entertainment Award (2012), Best Music Video Editor in the 5th Rapati Music Award (2016), Best Music Video Editor in the 1st Arena Music Award (2017), Best Music Video Editor in the 5th Music Khabar Award (2017), Best Modern Video Editor Award (2019), 1st prize winner in the category “Human interaction with nature” of the 8th WCN National Nature and Wildlife Photography Competition( 2016).

As a video director he has completed 50 plus videos which have won the hearts of millions of viewers globally. Some of his hit numbers are as follows:  Pitch Road, Bhunti, Ghamma Sukaideu, Ranabhul, Jun Ko Sathi Tara, Ghar Bar, Chodera Najau, Lali Guransh, Mayale Nai Ho Piyara, Happy Happy and Ato Pitho.  He has been awarded the Best Video Director by National Power News Music Award (2019), the Best Music Video Director by the Captivating Creation Award edition 6, India (2023).
